Women Power was founded in 2019 in Dzaleka Refugee Camp, Malawi, with a simple yet powerful vision: a world where refugee women and girls are empowered to transform their lives, lead with confidence, and create a brighter, more equitable future for all.
The Genesis of Women Power
The organization was born out of necessity and fierce resilience. A group of refugee women, who had graduated from a local vocational training center, recognized the daily challenges of inequality, poverty, and limited access to education and employment faced by their peers, especially widows, single mothers, teens, and women with numerous children.
Recognizing these struggles, this group of passionate women leaders came together to build a safe space where women and girls could learn, grow, and transform their lives and communities.
Today, Women Power stands as a beacon of hope and resilience, empowering women and girls to believe in their strength, claim their rights, and become agents of change in their families and communities. We are committed to advancing the empowerment and socio-economic inclusion of refugee women and girls in Dzaleka Refugee Camp.
